Our historical building at 238 N Main St. has been a staple of downtown Romeo since the 1930s. It was once a Mobil gas station with a repair garage and three pumps, sold and remodeled in the late 1960s.
Louis Newlan, DVM, was the original founder of Romeo Veterinary Hospital, but most clients know and love Dr. Michael Schumacher, who purchased the practice in 1983 and made Romeo his home. With a unique sense of humor and authentic compassion, Dr. Schumacher built a practice that generations of clients have trusted.
Upon retiring, Dr. Schumacher specifically asked us — the doctors at Oakland Animal Hospital — to purchase RVH. He completely trusts that we will uphold his high standard of exceptional veterinary care, and provide the same compassion and empathy his clients and patients have experienced for 43+ years.
While we may be the new owners, we are not new to veterinary expertise. We have worked alongside Dr. Mike for over 20 years and have owned Oakland Animal Hospital for 50 years. It is our absolute honor and privilege to work with you and for you.
It is our commitment and mission to not only treat your pet when it is not feeling well, but also to help you keep your best friend healthy throughout their life. We are unconditional animal lovers, devoted to giving pets the absolute best care possible — and we are grateful to carry on the legacy of veterinary excellence at 238 Main St.
